A wagging tail, a pair of jubilant eyes, and a playful mood- every pet owner’s day gets brightened up when they see their beloved canine friend having a good time. There is no denying the fact that just like we humans feel enthusiastic and upbeat when we feel healthy mentally and physically, similarly, our pets also feel the same. Every year, the International Yoga Day makes us recall the golden mantra ‘Health is Wealth.’ People across the world take out time out of their busy schedules and devote that time to investing in their health, with the aim of doing their bit towards a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle. Our innocent pets also need the needful focus on their good health. If your pet dog, who was once bubbly and energetic, is now behaving in a lethargic and gloomy way, then this should ring a bell for a severe health concern that your pet might be struggling with. Thus, this International Yoga Day, apart from giving your body the much-needed dose of enriching exercises, do also keep a tab on your pet’s health and check if there has been any shift in their energy and enthusiasm level. At Vetina, we would be glad to provide our assistance with the best healthcare services to ensure that your pet dog does stay healthy and fit!
Do you know that in recent years, one of the leading joint degenerative disorders that are to be seen in dogs is Osteoarthritis! This condition causes a long-term degeneration of joints and involves various tissues, including cartilage, bones of the joint, joint capsule, and synovial fluid. It has been studied that in the near future, almost one in every three dogs will get affected by Osteoarthritis at some point in their lives. This disorder is mostly diagnosed in larger breeds such as German Shepherd, Labs, Golden Retrievers, and Great Danes. Other prominent causes of Osteoarthritis are obesity, age, mechanical injuries, genetics, improper nutrition, and repetitive stress from athletic activities. Thus, if signs or symptoms such as stiffness, lameness, and pain of the joints are observed, then it may be because of the presence of Osteoarthritis.
Treatment for Osteoarthritis:
Osteoarthritis attacks parts of joints such as articular cartilage, synovial membrane, synovial fluid, joint capsule, ligament, and tendon. To treat it, Vetina launched Pentorse 100, which is an injectable for canines suffering from Osteoarthritis. The Pentorse 100 canine injection aids in the treatment of non-infectious, inflammatory joint disease in dogs. Pentorse is made of an active ingredient called Pentosan polysulfate sodium. It is a semi-synthetic polysulfated polysaccharide. Pentosan polysulfate is derived from a plant source called beechwood and possesses anti-inflammatory, anti-arthritic, and chondroprotective properties. It is classified under DMOAD (Disease Modifying Osteoarthritis Drug).
Pentosan increases the HA concentration in synovial fluid and thus increases viscosity in the fluid and smoother mobility.
Due to its heparin-like nature, it breaks down vascular occlusions and increases blood flow to the joints, thus improving oxygenation and nutrition to the joints. It decreases procoagulant activities and vascular occlusions. It breaks down blood clots and increases blood flow to the joints. Due to favorable conditions, it initiates chondrocyte regeneration.
PENTORSE 100 can be used for:
- Osteoarthritis & Traumatic joint disease
- Osteochondrosis dessicans
- Degenerative cartilaginous joint disease
- Musculoskeletal Disorder
- Peri-articular Inflammation
Benefits of PENTORSE 100:
Pentorse 100 has an anti-inflammatory action and fibrinolytic activity. It has chondroprotective agents and leads to reverses effects of Osteoarthritis. There is inhibition of destructive enzymes along with the stimulation of hyaluronic acid. Pentorse 100 is completely safe and has no reported side effects. Its anti-inflammatory action helps reduce joint inflammation and pain. The chondroprotective action and inhibition of loss of proteoglycans help in terminating further destruction of the joint and initiate regeneration of the damaged tissue. The stimulation of hyaluronic acid increases the formation of synovial fluid, which helps in the lubrication of the joint. The product shows a long-term effect as compared to other treatment options.
The recommended dosage of PENTORSE 100:
• The dosage for canines is 3mg/kg BW (1 ml per 33 kg BW) given subcutaneously every 5-7 days for a period of 4 weeks.
• It can be repeated again after a one-month rest period.
• Not more than three courses a year, that is, 12 injections in a year.
